Did you know...that Dimmit County is comprised of 5 cities - Asherton, Big Wells, Brundage, Carrizo Springs, and Catarina? The County was named for Phillip Dimmitt, a Pennsylvania adventurer active in the Texas fight for freedom; the misspelling of his name is a result of state office paperwork. Dimmit County is known for the most number of Texas Rangers buried at Mt. Hope Cemetary. Dimmit County, located in the southwest part of Texas, was created from portions of Maverick, Webb, Uvalde and Bexar counties!!!!
